Howells

Howells is the surname of the family that adopted my mother. She thought of them as her family, Winifred and Jack. They lived in Shoreham-by-Sea in Sussex, at 362 Brighton Road. They kept chickens in the back garden and Mum would take me regularly to visit until the death of Winifred in the 1960s. She would always have a colouring book and crayons for me to use on these visits. Jack was dead before I was born.

Here are some photographs of this family.

I wish I could find a connection but it is very interesting – my partner is a Dinnis and my mother’s maiden name is Howell – which would be an amazing coincidence. My daughter’s name is Amelia Dinnis.
